Customer needs deserve tailor-made answers. While this is a belief shared by all Roche employees, R&D teams are at the core when it comes to translating unmet medical needs into solutions that innovate healthcare and improve lives.
At Roche Diagnostics Ltd. in Rotkreuz, around 500 R&D employees are working to design and develop innovative systems solutions that support professionals in blood centers, hospitals, laboratories, decentral settings (e.g. physician offices) and research institutions around the world. The systems solutions comprise highly efficient automated instruments, software, consumables, client lab-based IT, and assays/tests for in vitro diagnostic testing on blood and other bodily fluids as well as for research applications. R&D at Roche Diagnostics places a premium on further increasing testing efficiency as well as reliability of testing. Roche Diagnostics’ systems solutions are all tailored to the customers’ needs, helping to prevent, diagnose, treat and monitor diseases as in the fields of clinical chemistry, immunology, urinalysis, blood screening, genetics, infectious diseases, microbiology, oncology, and virology.
Manufacturing

Roche is the country’s largest manufacturer of fully automated in-vitro diagnostic systems – and since 1969, more than 56,000 instruments have been produced at Rotkreuz.
With over 200 people working in the production
teams, in Rotkreuz a range of around 10 different products is assembled, with an average production
of 7.000 units per year, in a 12.000 m2 area.
In addition, a team of 20 people are working
at the global center for production of molecular diagnostic reagents and test kits at Roche Diagnostics
Ltd.
