Our contribution: excellence in science
Basel is one of the Roche Group's most important global centres of pharmaceutical research, and its primary location for research activities. Scientists, engineers and technologists from various nations work here every day, researching and developing new medicines in the two key areas Neuroscience, Ophthalmology, Rare Diseases and infectious diseases.
The Basel/Kaiseraugst site also makes an important contribution to production, having produced medicines as tablets, capsules and other dosage forms for more than 115 years. All this takes place on a large scale, since Basel is the Roche Group's biggest production centre. The facilities are equipped with the latest technology for the manufacture of traditional chemically synthesised drugs as well as pharmaceutical and biotechnological active ingredients and medicines.
Kaiseraugst packaging and logistics centre
Kaiseraugst is Roche's biggest packaging and logistics centre and a state-of-the-art centre for sterile production and antibiotics filling. Each year around 120 million packaged medicines are made ready for shipment and sent all over the world.
