New STEM project for schools in Zug

All secondary schools in the canton of Zug will receive the "SimplyNano 2" experiment kit. These exciting nano-experiments are designed to arouse young people's interest in science and technology. The project kicked off with a training session for teachers at Roche Diagnostics in Rotkreuz.

The fascination of nanotechnology
Nanotechnology deals with the special properties of materials at the nanoscale and their applications in many everyday products such as textiles, cosmetics and medicine. The SimplyNano 2 learning media enable students to discover this fascinating world for themselves through experiments. For example, they can learn how nanostructures help geckos stick to walls, how baby nappies absorb large amounts of liquid, or how the memory effect works in metals.

Commitment to promoting young talent
As an innovative company, Roche Diagnostics is actively involved in encouraging young people's interest and passion for technical careers. As part of our partnership, we support the SimplyNano project and were proud to host the introductory course for 23 teachers at our facilities. In addition to the hands-on experiments, the teachers had the opportunity to visit our vocational training centre and gain a comprehensive insight into the various apprenticeships at Roche Diagnostics.

Cooperation between schools and industry
The SimplyNano 2 project is offered free of charge to Swiss schools thanks to the support of more than 40 partners. This initiative highlights the importance of collaboration between schools and industry to address the shortage of skilled workers in technical professions and to get young people interested in science and technology at an early age.
