Empowering Women in Science

Today, on the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, we celebrate at Roche the achievements of these women. They deserve visibility, recognition and empowerment for their work by shaping and improving the lives of countless people. At Roche Switzerland, it is important to encourage young people - and today especially young women - to pursue their careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, to promote them and to offer them opportunities for development, as diverse teams lead to diverse solutions and a strong spirit of innovation

For Katharina Gasser, General Manager of Roche Pharmaceuticals Switzerland, it is particularly important to attract young women to science. That's why she met today Janine), who teaches at Roche as a laboratory assistant in chemistry. The two women discussed Janine's training at Roche and their shared passion for research and science. An exciting exchange, as Katharina says: "The future of science needs diversity and therefore - as of today - more women who are enthusiastic about science. Every young woman in STEM professions is a step in the right direction! I am impressed by how confident and with how much commitment Janine is taking this path." Janine was also pleased with this special exchange: "It was incredibly inspiring and exciting to meet Katharina. Katharina is a great example for me to continue on my path in the pharmaceutical industry and to do something good for society."
