Roche celebrates 50 years of diagnostics site in Rotkreuz

Roche in Rotkreuz, the largest private employer in the canton of Zug, is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2019. The motto of the celebrations is #StayCurious. Because it is curiosity that has accompanied the company as a central driver of innovative strength since its foundation in 1969: from the predecessor company Tegimenta in Zug with initially around 60 employees to today's Roche Diagnostics International in Rotkreuz with around 2500 employees from over 70 nations. These countless enthusiastic and committed people have shaped Rotkreuz over the past decades with a great deal of perseverance, dedication and innovative spirit - as employees, suppliers, authorities and business partners. 50 of them introduce themselves in our digital commemorative publication

The site developed into a modern, open campus that is also architecturally unique and unparalleled in central Switzerland. Today, Rotkreuz is an important site for the Diagnostics business and combines all central functions and business areas. The company currently trains 131 apprentices.

"Our site in Rotkreuz combines a locally rooted culture with a very international orientation," explains Annette Luther, General Manager Roche Diagnostics International Ltd. "Over the past decades, the campus has been shaped by dedicated people who have shown great perseverance, commitment and innovative spirit - whether as employees, suppliers, authorities or business partners. We would like to thank them for this."

In the future, Rotkreuz, as an important global diagnostics hub, will continue to exploit the digital potential for better healthcare: with integrated solutions for patients, doctors and laboratories. In doing so, data-driven processes optimise workflows in laboratories and support doctors' decision-making to provide better treatments for patients.

Severin Schwan, CEO of Roche, acknowledged the development into the most important diagnostics site in Switzerland: "Diagnostics will continue to grow in importance for the benefit of patients. In the future, we will not only offer instruments and tests, but increasingly also digital decision-making aids. These will help to use treatments in a more targeted and efficient way. Digitalisation will accelerate personalised medicine in a huge way and Rotkreuz will certainly be at the forefront. "
