Support for employees to reconcile work and family life

The school holidays are over and everyday life is returning. For many professionals with families, the balancing act between job and private life begins again. In order to reconcile work and family life, support from the employer is particularly important. That is why we at Roche in Rotkreuz provide our employees with offers such as amongst others childcare close to the site and flexible working times, to support fair opportunities.

Working parents are probably well aware of how challenging everyday life can be. At work, pressure arises from important projects and submission deadlines, the children have their own time management and needs, for a family member intensive care at short notice is necessary due to illness... In order to reconcile these private and professional demands in a satisfactory way, support from the employer is particularly important.

Flexible working models enable more flexibility in working hours and location and make it easier to provide care. With annual working hours, employees can flexibly organise their workload. Part-time and job-sharing models are also available.

Family is a cornerstone of Roche. We offer information events even before the birth. After the birth, there is more paid maternity leave than required by law, as well as paid partnership and adoption leave.

In Switzerland, breastfeeding during the first year of life counts as working time. Roche offers mothers breastfeeding rooms that are attractively designed and equipped with the necessary equipment.

From the child's fourth month until they start compulsory kindergarten, Roche offers childcare near the site, counselling services and income-dependent financial support. During some school holidays, there is also care for children from kindergarten to fifth grade. We offer information events on the Swiss school system for parents of school-age children.

In addition, employees can obtain discounted Reka credit and receive bonuses in addition to cantonal social allowances.

Roche also provides support to employees with relatives in need of care with counselling services and care leave, as well as unpaid care leave.

We regularly review and improve this in collaboration with the UND specialist unit, which once again awarded Roche in Switzerland the «Prädikat UND» in 2024.
